Experimental Surgery Unit

Experimental Surgery unit

The Experimental Surgery Unit conducts experiments that require surgical procedures for large animals especially pigs.

The Department of Experimental Medicine operates two fully staffed experimental surgical facilities with state-of-the-art anaesthesia and monitoring equipment for nine operating tables for large animals.

The Unit is purposely designed and equipped with modern and advanced equipment with a high degree of flexibility. Thus, the Unit is able to accommodate project specific requirements. Each facility is equipped with preparation and surgical rooms.

Some of the equipment available for users at the unit are:

  • Anaesthesia apparatus
  • Autoclave
  • Mobile C-arm X-ray system
  • Diathermia equipment
  • Surgical instruments
  • Laparoscopy apparatus

The Experimental Surgery Unit's facilities are located at Nørre Campus and at Frederiksberg Campus within a short distance from the Copenhagen University Hospital.
